work
in my poetry i try to move across borders. across the border between germany and france, a country that has shaped my artistic development from the very beginning. more globally, across the border between western and eastern aesthetics and mentalities. formally, i want to work at the intersections between the different arts. between literature and music, as in my text for the score von mund zu mund. between poem and visual art, as in many of my individual poems and in my longer cycle on the work and life of the painter pierre soulages: spuren / interlineare / / horizonte (traces / interlinear / / horizons). behind all these border experiences lies a more fundamental one, which connects everything for me and fascinates me lastingly: the border between concreteness and abstraction.

“a poetic method of sharp cuts, cut-ups; things and words break into fragments, shreds of reality, entities, and are reassembled . . . the syntactic signs are an elemental part of this poetry. but there is so much more that makes one prick up one’s ears: the multilingualism, the through-composed sound, the short circuit of empathy and discourse, identification and distance. the picture poems . . . are of great precision . . . many of them try to grasp what can hardly be grasped . . . everything breaks down into rapid sequences, sediments of consciousness, as if perception were being recreated in real time.”
